Collective Intelligence, Shamanism and how to regenerate our World
My Slime Mould Teacher
What we can learn from slime moulds and nature’s other networks about how to live together, how to promote collective resilience and thrive even in an unstable environment.
The existential threats to the planet’s ecology, as well as the global mental health crisis, widespread political instability and widening economic inequalities, are all expressions of a single malady: disconnection.
The remedy is to connect - to each other, to ourselves, and to nature. If we can connect, this multifaceted crisis becomes a historic opportunity to bring about a different world, a place where people will be naturally motivated to regenerate.
The talk is about collective intelligence and its potentials, about how single-celled creatures with neither brains nor nervous systems can solve mazes, predict rhythms in time, efficiently distribute resources and share information for collective resilience. It is also about the connections with traditional shamanism, and what happens when we plug into a network that is bigger than we are.
What might we humans be capable of if we work together and connect with something that goes beyond us?
Rites to Right Wrongs
The talk starts with a little bit of magic and ends by exploring the potentials of the imagination. You can join in with the journey at the end if you feel in the mood (or not if you don’t, you’re still an individual…).
It was recorded at the magical Cae Mabon eco-community in North Wales over the Lammas festival.
Enjoy!
